Ground beef is a staple in the average American diet, but where this concept come from?

First known mention

The History of the Hamburger

At the time of Genghis Khan, the army was huge, and has brought with it a population the size of a small town that has kept the fed and care. Cooks created a mixture of mutton and lamb, which was tenderized between the saddle and the horse, and eaten raw.

More than 100 years later, the grand-son of Khan and his army invaded Moscow. They brought the same basic food with them, and the Russians have quickly itself, giving it the name "Steak Tartare" (tartare was what they called the Mongols).

In the 15th century, the hamburger was a European delicacy. The rest of the English speaking countries of the world refer to as minced beef burger. In the 17th century, German ships carrying in Russia began to bring home the raw meat dish. Remember this, because it is the link between Hamburg in Germany and refer to now as "hamburger."

TADA! The most famous claim was that it was served at the St. Louis Universal Exposition in 1904. However, the Library of Louis Lunch points of the Congress in New Haven, CT to mean somewhere between 1895 and demand for Fair. Two other people claim they have served in your local fair in 1885.

Mass production

The first mass production hamburgers in buns was in Castelo Branco in 1921. They were a resounding success. Next was Wimpy burgers in 1934. They cost twice as much as the White Castle hamburgers at a dime each currency. Unfortunately, with the death of the owner, in 1978, all the restaurants were closed Wimpy.

Fast Food as we know today

When Frank McDonald arrived, it was a hot dog stand. Burgers were the main object and only a few decades, but with a health conscious America who speak ill of fast food, they had to make some changes serious. This included their salad offerings and grilled chicken sandwiches.

Both places have their fanatical followers who will fight to see who has the best burger or fries. But fast food is just that: fast food. If you want a great burger, you either hit a local truck stop or dinner, or do it yourself.
