Make Gmail Work Smarter With Labels

The messaging system Google - Gmail called - has become very popular in recent years. There is a free e-mail system based on the web that allows you with e-mail from any computer connected to the Internet. One of the most useful features - if you know how to use it - is the system of "tags". In short, labels are like "folders" on other systems. They provide a way to organize e-mail messages, and even the opportunity to pre-sort messages as they arrive in your inbox. Keep in mind that the labels are much like folders; folders on your computer that store all types of digital information and records in electronic systems which can be used as a virtual filing cabinet. Labels / Folders can be used to keep all your messages from a specific person to a folder or colleagues messages in another. Most people today have busy inboxes usually packed. With labels, you can have Gmail automatically classify incoming messages.

If you have not noticed their labels, they are listed in a column on the left side of the Gmail inbox, below are links to the Inbox, Drafts, Spam, Trash, and some others. Time to put the power of labels to work for you!

Under the new iteration of the main Gmail page, you'll see your G-mail address at the top right of the web page. Give a single mouse left click to open the Options menu. The first item listed is "Email Settings." Give a single left-click to access the Settings page. Single-click the text labels and go to this page. From this page, you can create all the labels you want - and have Gmail automatically filters messages. This means that Gmail checks incoming messages, looking at things such as the name of the sender, the subject, and even text in the message body. Based on defined rules, Gmail, then sort the message to the right label. Yes, it sounds a bit strange, but it is the correct usage of the term to Gmail. Remember, you can think about labels as folders, if that helps keep straight in your mind.

Gmail offers visual cues that you have messages in different labels like to arrive in your inbox. You will see a number in parentheses next to the label name. Indicate the number of unread messages in the folder label, so you know to look for this label and read new messages.
