Shopping and Sightseeing in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi

Shopping in Ho Chi Minh City ~ Vietnam opens quickly to the outside world and the opportunity to visit while it is still true to its cultural identity is a must for all modern browsers. Stretching the length of the Indochinese peninsula, Vietnam comes from the north, with its alpine peaks and the Red River Delta, through the temperate mountains in the center of the Mekong River in the south, with its modern life in Ho Chi Minh City. Stay double center is a great way to see both sides of the culture and unique heritage of Vietnam.

Flights to Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon and now affectionately known as HCMV are common worldwide. Expect to be surprised by this multi-cultural city with its Asian cuisine and thousands of French-inspired motorcycles and Ben Thanh Market, which is anything but communist in his business. One of the 40 city markets that have sprung up to accommodate traders who can not afford the high commercial rents, this is the market to visit. Hundreds of vendors to create a narrow labyrinth of stalls selling everything snake wine and fine silk fabric for the latest Japanese machines. Once the meeting place for expatriates and journalists during the war, it remains the most popular pub in town with decorative lights, topiary and singing birds that can hardly compete with the lively conversation. From the roof there is a breathtaking view of downtown Ho Chi Minh.

Get your free map from the Tourist Information Centre, which also covers Hanoi. Features include a couch 1960 vintage paraphernalia and replica circular tank on the lawn. Less amusing is the War Remnants Museum with pictures and horrible shows. Poses for a photograph outside the town hall, next to the statue of Uncle Ho, visit one of the beautiful pagoda of the city, with its beautiful sculptures or visit the Dai Nam Van Hien Temple in the tourist park also home to the zoo, shops, hotels and a huge artificial mountain.

At the other end of the country, and completely opposed to Ho Chi Minh City, in many ways, is Hanoi. The Old Quarter is a maze of shopping delight. The narrow and congested streets bear the names of products - Rice Street, Silk Street and even Pots and Pans Street! The shops are little more than holes cabinet containing the merchant noodles surrounded by piles, antiques, flowers or crafts. Other must-see attractions in Hanoi are the 900 years of the Temple of Literature and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Hanoi offers a feast of gastronomic experiences such as 'Cha Ca', a delicious red fish stew served with rice noodles, shrimp sauce, fried peanuts and pickled vegetables. Enjoy your meal!
