Use GIMP to Customize Your Kindle

GIMP is free and very simple to use. It is a GNU image manipulation program available in the GIMP website (gimp.org). It is a multi-tasking program that is worth the time to download and hard drive space.

Obviously, before launching this project have downloaded GIMP and ready for image manipulation.

Here are the steps to recolor and resize an image to a custom screensaver Kindle.

1. Open the program GIMP
2. Open a new image file by clicking "File" then "new"
3. Create a canvas. When the "create" screen opens, choose these attributes:
Width: 600
Height: 800

Space color: gray (you can find the "choice" "color" space Advanced ")
Fill with: the foreground color (black will create a screensaver from the edge.)

4. Now add your image by clicking on "Open as layers" in "file". The image is automatically centered and open grayscale.

Click the Rectangle tool in the toolbox to the left of the image. Then click and drag, creating a rectangle around the image. You will need to re-center the image after harvest. To complete this task:

Select the alignment tool from the toolbox
Click to select your image
In the toolbox, do it over: Image
Select "align the center of the target"
Select "align middle of the target"
The image should now be cut and focused on GIMP screen. To resize the image, just click on the layer and choose the scale of the layer.

GIMP is an excellent tool to use when resizing an image and maintain its ratio. When finished manipulate the image, save it as a.jpg, .GIF, or.PNG file extension.
The original image is now ready to be loaded on your Kindle for a custom screen saver!
