The food pyramid is a graphical orientation of different types of foods to be taken during the day to get a healthy and balanced diet.
You should eat less food pyramid for the two tablets, namely, breads, cereals, potatoes, fruits and vegetables, with small amounts of food derived from milk, cheese, yogurt, meat and alternatives. Choosing the right combination of foods of each tray of the pyramid will be a balance of energy, protein, vitamins and minerals daily.
Ideally, it is suggested to take 6 to 11 portions of food in the basic category of the pyramid. Breads, grains, cereal and pasta provide complex carbohydrates and B vitamins, which are an important source of energy, especially for a low-fat meal plan. Part of this group is considered a rice cooked half cup or pasta, a slice of bread, half a loaf or baguette, a half cup cooked grains or cereals, an ounce or muesli breakfast cereals.
Fruits and vegetables are rich in nutrients. Many are excellent sources of vitamin A and vitamin C, rich in fiber, low in fat, sodium and sugar. The food pyramid suggests 3-5 servings of vegetables daily. A serving of vegetables can be a cup of raw leafy vegetables, half a cup of cooked vegetables or other raw, and three quarters of a cup of vegetable juice. A dose may be composed of a medium size apples, oranges or bananas; half a cup of chopped, cooked or canned fruit and three-quarters of a cup of fruit juice. The Food Pyramid suggests 2 to 3 servings of meat, fish or chicken. Each part being composed of an egg; two tablespoons of seeds or nuts and two to three ounces of cooked fish, meat or poultry.
Milk, yogurt and cheese are good sources of calcium and protein. The top of the food pyramid is the smallest part, which means that the fats and sweets in this category should include smaller percentage of your daily diet. These foods are chips, salad dressings sauces, oils, mayonnaise, cream, butter, margarine, sugar, soft drinks, cakes, cookies and sweets should be eaten in moderation, ideally less than 3 servings because they provide calories but not much in terms of nutrition.
