The second game saw the Celtics lead to 25 points, but had to survive a fourth quarter 41 points for the Lakers hold a 108-102 victory, to go ahead 2-0 in the series. Kobe Bryant threw the ball very well in the game two by scoring 30 points on 11-23 shooting, and also adding 8 assists. Pau Gasol added 17 and Lamar Odom 10 Vladmir Radmanovic 17. Gasol and Radmanovic also had 10 rebounds. For the Celtics, Paul Pierce could not be stopped going 4-4 from behind the arc, scoring 28 points. Kevin Garnett was a monster on the glass, grabbing 14 rebounds. Go to Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Celtics took the series 2-0.
The Lakers felt good coming home. This game was back and forth, before the Lakers took control in the fourth quarter and came out with a 87-81 win to cut the lead to 2-1 series. Kobe Bryant was released by scoring 36 points, and was followed by 12 rebounds from Pau Gasol. The Lakers did a much better job defending the Celtics, Paul Pierce limited to just six points. The series now getting interesting.
Game four was a game, the Lakers have won, but let out. The Lakers took a 35-14 first quarter and led 58-40 at halftime. Outscoring the Lakers 31-15 in the third quarter and 26-18 in the fourth quarter, the Celtics lifted the home stadium and the team of Phil Jackson and won the match 97-91. Paul Pierce scored 20 points, Ray Allen added 19 and Kevin Garnett 16 but the real surprise was James Posey bank, who scored 18 points. The Lakers look back on the series and point to this game as a devastating blow.
The Lakers again jumped on the Celtics with a 39-22 lead after one quarter. 38 points from Paul Pierce and double-double of Kevin Garnett was not enough as the Lakers were led by Kobe 25, and Odom added 20 rebound games in double figures Odom and Gasol. The Lakers were still alive, but to win the NBA title, they would have to win two consecutive games, both in Boston.
The Celtics were in Lakers jerseys at every turn. The Celtics led by 45 points at one point in the game, and the final margin ended at 39; 131-92. The Celtics were led by the hot shooting of Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and always calm presence, scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds. The 2007-2008 NBA season ended, with the Celtics winning the NBA title, and the Lakers come off as second best.
