Those of you who currently use Gmail may have noticed a new warning in red on top of the mail on the Google Mail Security screen.
This message tells us that Google Mail or Gmail, now offers HTTPS by default. HTTPS stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure. It provides authenticated and encrypted communication. HTTPS is the same protocol used by banks to maintain their secure online account. So your data is safe as it travels between your web browser and Gmail servers.
(For a more technical explanation see Wikipedia.org)
Generally, the online data is vulnerable to hackers. HTTPS encrypts your data when using Wi-Fi or a non-encrypted network, your privacy and security are always protected.
Non-secure networks make it easier for someone to access your bank statements or log-in details. Google has been ahead of other traditional webmail providers allowing encrypted access to Gmail. Now Gmail offers as a standard. Good news for our e-mail security.
Gmail default introduced is "always use HTTPS". This additional security can slow your Gmail using a secure network, you can choose to disable this option. If you disable HTTPS, Gmail will still automatically encrypt the login page to protect your password.
Otherwise, record plug when working in a WiFi cafe or public space.
Just go to Settings> General> Browser connection and select Always use https or not use https always.
Click Save Changes.
You may have to manually change "https://mail.google.com" the "http://mail.google.com" browser when you disable https.
