They have great chocolate and good ice cream - but the tourist frenzy is so far out of balance with the experience - it boggles our mind. The kind of gift that should be given out on this day should be a simple one. Thanks for a perfect day in the city, Ghirardelli!

Another way to get here from any location near Market Street is by taking the F-Street Car. Major driver propelling the growth of the chocolate market is the increased awareness regarding the health benefits of chocolate, such as blood pressure suppressing property, antioxidant enrichment, and anti-aging property. If one chocolate class isn’t enough for you, there will also be thirty-minute chef demonstrations throughout the event.
Come and experience Chocolate School, chef demonstrations, ice cream eating contests, chocolate vendors, and the popular Ghirardelli Chocolate Lounge. Besides their famous chocolate squares and their ice cream sundaes, the Ghirardelli Chocolate company also hosts chef demonstrations, an ice cream eating contest, and a VIP lounge with sips from local breweries and wineries.
New for this year’s festival, the Chocolate and Wine Pavilion will allow ticket holders to sample wines and desserts from throughout the Bay Area. Local vendors, sample and showcase delicious treats that will delight any palate! Local chefs will teach attendees how to make all sorts of chocolate yummies.
Wente Vineyards Culinary Stage:
Local culinary professionals work their delicious magic on both Saturday and Sunday at the Wente Vineyards Culinary Stage at the Festival. Every year, the Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival has two days of entertainment. Right after we got in, they announced that they had run out of their 360 Double Chocolate Vodka so they were just providing samples of their Vanilla instead, which we definitely didn’t have a problem with.
On top of my father’s condition, Hubby and I had to tour some apartments as we’re finally moving out of my parent’s home. It’s not every day that chocolate enthusiasts get to feast their eyes and hearts out on one thing they most adore, the chocolates! Although it’s been going on for 15 years, I never went as I doubted whether it was worth the price.

Whenever first-time visitors to San Francisco ask me about sweets and dessert, it’s near impossible not to list Ghirardelli Square. Hysterical. It’s just crazy! And other fun spots like the children's playground and carousel to while-away the time when you visit San Francisco.
This year’s festival on September 14 and 15 marks the 18th year in a row that lovers of all things chocolate have descended upon San Francisco’s waterfront to eat, drink, dance and meander through the Square. It is a unique scent that is the spirit of San Francisco, and something that you have to smell to believe.
Kids have their own version of the Sundae-Eating Contest on (of course) Sunday. You have many great options to get to Ghirardelli Square. You will also find some great motels and budget friendly hotels within a few blocks of the district. All of this area is protected as part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
In 2014 our goal is to double the quantity of premium offerings from restaurants, hotels, the travel industry and vendors. Project Open Hand and their efforts to serve “meals with love” to people with HIV/AIDS, the homebound critically ill and seniors. Well, there is a solution close at hand. From Jewelry to Gifts to Apparel and Accessories, there are many places to pick from.
There are three competitions on both Saturday and Sunday. Following are some of my favorites from this year’s Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival; the shot above is of Pepito Paletas chocolate popsicles. It is available in various forms like chocolate cookies, truffles, brownies, chocolate chips, etc. and very often are supplemented by butter cream cookies.
Come join Ghirardelli’s own ‘Chocolate Professor’, Steve Genzoli, as he teaches ‘Chocolate School’ and takes audience members through a tour of the delicious chocolate making process.
