Lamborghini was founded in 1963 by Ferruccio
Lamborghini, a member of the old army who created his own company committed to
build tractors. The success was celebrated in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy,
where the company has its headquarters.
But everything changed when he met Enzo Ferrari. This was the moment that his desire to build high-speed supercars with luxurious interiors revealed. Ferruccio complained to Enzo to a clutch problem that Ferrari had. Unhappy with the response received, Ferruccio disassembled the transmission of his car and found that the car used in exactly the same transmission as their tractors. Because of this discovery, he asked some talented men who worked for Ferrari Enzo including Franco Scaglione, Giotto Bizzarini and Gian Paolo Dallara to provide assistance. As a result, the team created the perfect competitor for the Ferrari cars, Automobili Lamborghini.
Ferruccio was inspired by his birth sign, Taurus, and began to use it as an emblem for their cars. In fact, even today, Lamborghini cars are named after bulls. The Italian company has also hired Giotto Bizzarrini, a worker who has worked for Ferrari and asked him to create and produce a V12 engine for Lamborghini. The first car built by Lamborghini was the GTV prototype as the first production car was the Lamborghini 350GT built in 1964. After the Lamborghini 350GT, Lamborghini's history continued to use the building and launching of the Miura, a real name a supercar -known bull race. In 1968, Lamborghini built the Lamborghini 400GT that was a great success, over 1,200 cars being built in Sant'Agata.
In 1970 Bob Wallace racing driver worked to remake the right of his Miura in a race car. He redesigned suspension, reduced weight and bring new spoilers get a fast race car that can go from zero to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds. In the 1970s, an Italian man company suffered due to the economic crisis and Ferruccio sold his shares at any Swiss car enthusiast, George-Henri Rossetti. After some dark days and a single car produced (the Coutach 400S in 1980), Lamborghini was sold to the French brothers Patrick and Jean-Claude Mimran who produced the series off road and LMA Coutach Quattrovalvole. Later, another page of history was written when Lamborghini Lee Iaccoca bought the organization for $ 33 million.
Throughout Iaccoca was in 1990, it launched the Lamborghini Diablo. Due to a significant injection of cash and technology, the company built the Murcielago in 2001. Its success was followed by Gallardo 2003, which was proven a company focused on fast supercars and luxury designed for modern drivers. In 2010, Gallardo was probably considered the most successful car with 10,000 units produced.
