Philadelphia beat the Dodgers 4 games to 1. Passing the NLCS series is a little
different than playing the Tampa Bay Rays. Philadelphia had 214 HR, the Tampa
Bay Rays had 180 HR. The Rays had SB 142 and Philadelphia had 136 SBs.
Philadelphia had a.332 OBP while Tampa Bay had a.340 OBP. Ryan Howard and Jimmy
Rollins have been ineffective in the opener. Chase Utley and Shane Victorino
were the best hitters and base runners that Philadelphia was the first game.
Carl Crawford hit a home run in the fourth inning.
Pitching is slightly in favor of Tampa Bay as they had in 1143 Ks and Philadelphia scored 1084 Ks. The Phillies had an ERA of 3.88, while the shelves had a 3.82 ERA. Relief pitching is definitely for the Phillies. If the starting pitching can reach innings later, Phillies relief team shut down the shelves, especially with Lidge in the ninth inning.
What is interesting about these two teams is that more than half of the team was drafted by the Tampa Bay or Philadelphia, and they came through the organization of the respective teams. Maybe teams that like to "buy a ring," should be aware of, namely, Yankees, Dodgers, etc.
Thinking the seven-game series with Philadelphia winning the seventh game. The Phillies are a little older and a little wiser. It should be a world of exciting, especially given the World Series in 2007.
