Throughout 1800 the monarch authorities refused until finally a bicameral parliament was created.

This reign of the first king is still celebrated in Hawaii on June 11 as King Kamehameha the first day. The festival includes a traditional floral parade with horses and chariots decorated with flowers. In addition, there are hula competitions and music festivals with food operations, history and the local community.
