Clear Search History



Your computer tracks all activities performed by you while surfing the internet. The back button on your browser, graphics cache, cookies and history file can hold data that can help to track your Internet activities. Unless this data is deleted manually or by using software, your browsing activities lay stored on the computer. If you are using Internet Explorer 7, use the following steps to erase your search history:
    Select "Tools" and select "Internet Options."
    Then select the tab marked "General".
    Click the "Delete" button, located in the "Browsing history".
    To clear the history of the address bar (the list of sites you've visited), select "Clear History," then click the "Yes" button.

Firefox users can delete search history by using the following steps:

    Select in succession "Tools," "Options" and "Privacy".
    In the "Clear Private Data", check "Browsing history" and select "Clear Private Data".
    Finally, click OK.

To clear your search history for the AOL browser, the guidelines say you should:

    Find the "Settings" button at the top of the AOL window and click it.
    Then you need to select "Settings" and choose "Toolbar and Sounds".
    Finally, click "Clear path of history now."

Opera users can clear the history of sites visited by them as follows:

    Go to the "Tools" menu.
    Select "Delete private data".
    Click the "Details" button.
    Choose "Clear history of visited links".
    Click the "Delete" button.

If you use Netscape, you can clear your search history by clicking the menu marked "Edit" and choose one by one in the "Preferences", "history" and finally click "Clear History."

Although the data stored by your computer can be useful as it can perk up the speed at which you browse because the files are loaded from your hard disk instead of downloading the web pages once again. In addition, due to the storage of such information on your hard disk, suggestions are automatically displayed based on the information / data entered before, when you type something. So if you want to keep your browsing habits safe and not allow such information falling into the wrong hands, always clear search history.
