The History of Manchester United


Manchester United are arguably the best club in the world, but this multi-million pound club began as Newton Heath L & YR Football Club in 1878, as the team works for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway depot at Newton Health.

They played on a small field, ramshackle North Road, near the future site of the Manchester Piccadilly railway station for fifteen years,
Then in 1983 they moved to play on Bank Street in a nearby town called Clayton. The first major signing of Manchester United, was Charlie Roberts of Grimsby Town for £ 750 in April 1904, they believe that this signature has helped Manchester United to third in the following season. In the 1905-1906 Season Manchester United were eventually promoted to the first division, where two years later, emerged as champions for the first time.


Three seasons before the Second World War, Manchester United were promoted, then relegated then promoted again, providing them a place in the division since the end of the war finally.

In the 1956-1957 Season, Manchester United became the first season to participate in the European Cup, and was in this competition that Manchester United recorded their biggest win to date, hit 10-0 before a Belgian team being eliminated in the semifinals by Real Madrid.

Tragedy struck next season as a plane crash killed eight Manchester United players during a trip to Germany for a European match. Geoff Bent, Roger Byrne, Eddie Colman, Duncan Edwards, Mark Jones, David Pegg, Tommy Taylor and Liam Whelan, where players killed that day, these players will never be forgotten.

Manchester United in the early 70s changed the emblem of the emblem of knowledge off today. Sir Alex Ferguson has not had much success at Manchester United until 1998, when his team had the best season in the history of English football, completing the treble of Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
