Mono Mixes origin
In the 1960 single was "king" in the pop / rock music was concerned. Stereo is mainly the interest of "audiophiles" who were mostly listening to jazz and classical recordings. Because of this (and because it was what they grew up with themselves) The Beatles spent almost all his time and energy on the mono mixes of their albums up through to 1968 when stereo began to exceed mono as the principle form that fans pop / rock music heard.
This means that the mono mixes of albums like Revolver , Rubber Soul and Sgt. Pepper was extremely difficult for Beatles fans to hear in the CD of the time.
