Chemotherapy is able to stop or slow the rapid production of cancer cells in the body. When a patient is experiencing a late stage cancer, chemotherapy is often the only option that physicians as a treatment for the patient. However, chemotherapy and breast cancer actually completely cure the disease. But again, this is the type of cancer treatment, which has the highest rating for the survival of cancer patient.

Chemotherapy drugs for breast cancer are administered orally or intravenously. Chemotherapy drugs do not target the cancer cells in the breast, but in all parts of the body, therefore, it is called as a type of systemic therapy for breast cancer. Once the drug to get to all parts of the body, its effectiveness completely eliminating the disease is high because the drugs will also stop the spread of cancer cells throughout the body. The time interval variable chemotherapy treatment depending on the severity of the cancer, the reaction of the drug in the body of the patient and the type of medicament being administered to the patient with cancer.

Other than just the breast cancer treatment, chemotherapy is also effective in preventing the recurrence of cancer cells in the body. In most cases, the cancer is felt by a patient due to once again that the cancer cells have spread to different body parts. Chemotherapy drugs are always continuously given, even for patients who have completely cured of their breast cancer than to ensure that all cancer cells are killed not only in the breast, but also in all organs to prevent cancer recurrence.
