The Good, The Bad and The New Food Pyramid


You may have seen the food pyramid on the wall at your doctor's office or you may remember studying at school or see it in your child's homework. You can not have seen the new food pyramid however.

With the age of the food pyramid, there are four groups of foods and illustrated stacked one above the other. The largest group of food is basically what is cereal, rice, pasta and bread. Here's what you should eat more. The food pyramid shows how much of each type of food you should eat every day.


The new food pyramid uses colorful stripes vertical arc to indicate the different food groups and tells you how many cups or ounces per day, you should be rather than the number of servings the old food pyramid.

So what is the importance of the New Food Pyramid?

Health professionals all agree that it is important to eat a balanced diet with foods from each food group and that is what the new food pyramid also encouraged. Your body needs a combination of fruits; vegetables, grains, meat and poultry and dairy products to function properly. If you eat a vegetarian or vegan diet, you can eat healthy, but you'll need to make some substitutions, such as eating beans and lentils instead of meat, for example.

So there are bad foods?

No foods are banned from the new food pyramid, but there are certain foods that should be eaten in moderation. If fried chicken is your favorite dish, it does not hurt to eat. The chicken is healthy and thin, fried chicken recipes contain oil, but it is good to consume some oil each day. You can make your favorite fried chicken recipe dough and serving fried chicken with vegetables or a green salad to make it more balanced. Alternatively, you can eat cereals, fruits, vegetables and dairy products for lunch and enjoy fried chicken for dinner. You can be healthy and enjoy the tastiest food at the same time.

Prohibit all fried foods or sugary foods all makes you unhappy. Eat a balanced diet does not mean a fried chicken in one hand and a huge plate of chips in the other, but who do not eat some of all food and ensure that you eat foods from each food group to feed your body correctly .
