Food Poisoning Lawsuits


Food poisoning concern used to be confined mainly to the handling and preparation of meals in restaurants and unfit home. In recent years, massive outbreaks of serious illness and death caused by contamination wide range of foods such as spinach contaminated with E. coli, Salmonella with peanut butter, and contamination of animal feed company later discovered to cross contamination of food for humans, they made the most of warning us about the food they buy and eat.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that there are 76 million cases of food poisoning attacks in the United States each year, with nearly 5,000 resulting in death. We usually think of food poisoning as a disease caused by bacteria, but food can also become harmful or fatal when it is contaminated with the virus through the infected food handlers, chemicals and even foreign objects.


Food can become contaminated when bacteria are transferred from one person, animal, surface preparation, or other foods due to poor hygiene and handling practices bad foods. Improper storage can cause food spoilage, and failure to fully cook food can also cause food poisoning.

E. coli

There are many strains of E. coli. The E. coli bacteria from feces. Food can be contaminated during storage and preparation of surfaces of hands, utensils, packaging or those preparing. E. coli can also come to produce in the fields by contaminated irrigation water, animals defecate in fields and inappropriate fertilization methods.

Salmonella

Undercooked poultry is the best-known source of salmonellosis. Salmonella is transmitted among birds in large part because of the poor conditions in which the birds are high. Bacteria can be killed by cooking the meat at temperatures above 150 degrees, and control a good cooling growth. Cross-contamination of other foods is a common result of poor food handling and lack of cleanliness.

Staphylococcus aureus

Mayonnaise-based foods are a common source of food poisoning, and it is a common misconception that salmonella is the culprit. In fact, the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus is the underlying problem. Most foods containing mayonnaise, such as potato salad and coleslaw are not prepared. Cooling and hand washing are needed to prevent this type of food poisoning.

Botulism

Botulism very rare, but very deadly kills about 30% of its victims. Canned foods are the most common source. Boiling food for 10 minutes will kill the bacteria.
