What is chemotherapy?

What are the side effects of chemotherapy?

There are several side effects of chemotherapy and most of them depend on the type of drug used and the dose administered.

Chemotherapy drugs work in cancer cells which are rapidly dividing, but also the negotiation affect normal healthy cells of the body, especially those that divide, such as blood cells, hair follicles, buccal mucosa, gastric mucosa.

When blood cells are affected by chemotherapy, with white blood cell count significantly reduces the number of platelets. A patient is then more prone to diseases as the body's defense mechanism is impaired. Some patients suffer from side effects while others free. There are patients who do not have all the side effects of chemotherapy.
