Cake ingredients:
1 and 3 / 4 cup flour
3 / 4 cup cocoa powder
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 / 2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup dark chocolate range
1 cup sour milk (1 cup whole milk 1 teaspoon vinegar), or buttermilk
Instructions cake base
Sift flour, cocoa, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt (as always should be) in a large bowl, stir to combine. Add eggs, milk, chocolate, black pepper, butter and vanilla and beat for 2 minutes with hand mixer at medium speed until combined, and (the mixture should be soft at this stage).
Pour the mixture into a greased and floured cake of 24 cm x 24 cm 24 cm square or round cake pan and bake at 180 degrees for 35-40 minutes (when you test a cake, a cake skewer should come out clean, but must still be moist). Remove from oven, let cool for 10 minutes, then turn onto cake rack and let cool completely before frosting. The ice on the bottom of the cake with chocolate ganache.
Chocolate Ganache Frosting Ingredients
* 150 g dark chocolate (I use 100 of Lindt 70% dark chocolate combined with 50 grams of Lindt milk chocolate - yum)
* 100 ml cream
Instructions for Chocolate Ganache Frosting
Chop the chocolate into small pieces and place in a heatproof bowl. Pour the chocolate cream, then mix thoroughly for several minutes until the chocolate has melted and glossy.
