For 2010, Kia Spectra compact
sedan was replaced by a new model called Forte, powered by two new engines
designed four-cylinder Hyundai.
Both engines are part of the Strong Theta family,
developed as a joint venture between Chrysler, Mitsubishi and Hyundai, which
holds a minority stake in Kia. Both are all-aluminum, 16-line valves ovens,
with double overhead camshaft driven by chain-head and variable timing of the
intake valves. LX and EX have a Strong version 2.0 liters of this engine, with
156 horsepower and 144 lb-ft of torque, against Spectra 142 horsepower and 137
lb-ft. In states with California emissions standards of style, the new engine
is rated at 154 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. Forte SX uses a 2.4-liter
version of this engine, with a larger bore and longer stroke. On paper, the two
powerful engines produce more power than rivals like the Mazda3 and Toyota
Corolla. In the real world, your pulse is set aside a little time transmission
gears, although performance remains adequate. Both engines are relatively high
when accelerated, but quiet at low speed and mid-range. Some critics complain
that the 2.4-liter engine has the annoying response accelerator, non-linear.
With the EPA estimated fuel economy of 2.4 liters better than any of its direct competitors, but 28 mpg 2.0-liter engine combined ranking is only mid-pack. Scores of 2.0 liter with better fuel economy option package, which increases combined EPA rating of 30 mpg in a strong leader in its class.
