How to Create a Cover for Your Free Ebook with GIMP

Assuming you have created your coverage for 3D eBook cover templates you have downloaded, you now have to register before continuing.

1. Click File - Save and give it a name.

2. Now you want to turn into a flattened image that you can stick on your eBook cover model. Click the dialog boxes - Layers. Click on the eye side of the bottom layer. Now you should just have your white without cover (only one test pattern).

3. Click the right mouse button in one of the layers and choose Merge Visible. In the window that appears, click the culture of the lower layer (your main form page) and discard invisible layers (background). Click OK. You now have your coat prepared to stick to the cover model. Click Select - All, then Edit - Copy.

4. Now go to File - Open and select the cover01.psd you opened earlier. Click File - Save As and change the name so that you can not replace your copy of cover01 - you will use again and again once you get addicted to create their covers! ;)

5. If the layers are not visible in the main window of GIMP, click dialog boxes - Layers. Click on the 3D layer called surrender. Click Layers - New layer. Now click Edit - Paste.

6.Click Layer - anchoring layer. In the main window of GIMP change the opacity to about 40% so you can see the cover of the e-book under his blanket.

7. Click Tools - Transform - Scale. Click ladder in the window that appears. Now click on Tools - Transform - Move. Hold down the Shift key and click on the cover and move it into position so that the side is aligned with the spine. It could also help if you zoom in on the image by clicking the 200% at the bottom of your picture window.

8. Now select Tools - Transform - Perspective. Click the lower right corner of the front cover and slide it toward the front of the eBook cover below to get your 3D appearance. When you are satisfied that all corners fit, click Transform in the window that appears.

Click File - Save As. Then save it as a file xcf for subsequent changes.

Then save it as new, but this time select the file extension in the bottom of the backup window and choose jpeg.

Click Export in the window that opens, set the JPEG quality using the slider to specify a file for a balance between file size and image quality. Finito!
