AOL Catch Up With Skype



HE said this week it will open its VoIP platform for the development of 3rd party. The parent of Skype and eBay takes higher measures and set AOL. AOL announced three tools that will be available to developers of hardware and software.

1) An API for developing call tones "" or personalized buttons

2) Another is to allow hardware developers to create USB devices that use the service as headsets, phones and speaker phones.

3) The last API call management functions for use with the AIM VoIP platform.

AOL said some products will be available in Fall 2006 VON show in Boston, MA, a semi-annual conference of VoIP service providers and device manufacturers.

Products include iotum showing an intelligent application to manage incoming calls and IMS. MyNuMo unveil a ringtone and RingBack online shop for service and mVox announce wireless USB phones compatible with AOL Phoneline platform.

For starters, AOL has launched a competition to encourage the development of a grand prize of US $ 3,500 (although the development of these products probably cost much more!)
