For power and
absolute intensity, it's hard to beat a HID projector for your boat. Usually
containing xenon lamps or metal halide HID headlamps produce very intense beams
of light and glow that no other form of lighting can match. If
you are not sure that a HID projector, they are the same thing that seen
used at carnivals and fairs to paint furniture bright spots in the sky that
help mark the site so visitors can easily find them by far. Smaller
versions designed for boats do not produce quite as much power, but decent
units can easily create beams of light that can reach more than a half-mile
long.
When the wire is
hot incandescent lamp, the filament becomes sensitive to vibrations and impacts
that can cause breakage if the projector was pushed or fell. HID lamps, however, has no
filament. HID
lamps, electricity is used to create an arc within the lamp which will
illuminate the greenhouse salts an inside of the bulb. These
materials create the burning intensely bright plasma that radiates a light that
is directed and focused by the floodlights of the lens, resulting in a light
white light beam. Since
no filament breakage, the HID can withstand a greater degree of vibration and
abuse that would cause the failure of a halogen unit.
Although HID reflectors provide a greater degree of
performance halogen units, they have some differences to keep in mind. The
high-pressure lamps operate similarly to fluorescent lamps, which means they
require a ballast to light the lamp and maintain a constant current flow to the
lamp. This
ballast adds more weight and cost. However
this is usually offset by the HIDs duration longer operational life, compared
to a halogen lamp. An
HID lamp can work up to 10,000 hours before replacement, making it more
profitable in the long term, not to mention the most reliable.HID headlamps can also get very hot during operation. Finally, HID headlamps takes about 30-60 seconds to reach maximum intensity. Overall, HID boat focus simply outclass normal and tungsten halogen lamps for almost every performance measure. Produce light beams on a long half-mile and energy efficient, they provide a bright source of light that is ideal for marine environments where emergency situations, convenience and security dictate the need of power without much 'commitment.
