The Netherlands can and should be enjoyed year round. It is a country that never sleeps with festivals and celebrations that take place in very short intervals. But probably some of the best events of cultural events taking place during the summer months. No excuses not rent a bike and explore the country on two wheels, as most locals!
Places to enjoy the summer Dutch
An obvious choice for the summer is to go to the beach. Fortunately, the Netherlands is home to a variety of beautiful sea resorts perfectly suited for a day of fun. One of the closest cities is Scheveningen, which offers visitors the chance to stroll along its 984-foot dock, and explore numerous entertainment pavilions. Further stations are search Zandvoort, Katwijk and Den Helder.
If you're a fan of time, visit the highest lighthouse in Europe, located in Huisduinen, and sprawling views of the local nature reserve.
Lovers of the city should explore Maastricht, vibrant student city, which is large enough to provide yet small enough entertainment for you to be able to avoid the heat and crowds bother you find elsewhere.
Events in the Netherlands
From April to October in the Netherlands is hosting the Floriade Horticultural World Expo, a paradise for gardeners worldwide. Over two million visitors are expected at the fair held in the Venlo region in northern Limburg, easily accessible from the international airport Eindhoven, Maastricht, Düsseldorf and Cologne.
It is a fun event for the whole family with a cultural program jampacked concerts, plays, parades and other shenanigans.
It is, as such, one of the biggest cultural festivals in the Netherlands, and worth seeing. Theaters, museums and other locations throughout Amsterdam to play host spectacular performances of established and future stars. Children are not forgotten by the organizers who makes home town famous Vondelpark Uitmarkt Junior with family movies, plays and workshops.
In July Rotterdam houses the North Sea Jazz Festival, attracting world-renowned artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Lenny Kravitz, Van Morrison and Rumer. Shows are scheduled to occur in large and small venues throughout the city with the occasional show pop-up and for all the 1,300 artists come to show what they have. The city is the largest port in Europe after all.
The local railway system is fast, comfortable and air conditioned.
